Speeding driver causes three-car accident on city's East Side

The accident was reported just after 8 p.m.

SAN ANTONIO – Four people were sent to the hospital Thursday night after police say a speeding driver slammed into two other vehicles.

The accident happened just after 8 p.m. at the intersection of South Hackberry Road and Rigsby Avenue.

San Antonio police say the driver of a green truck was speeding down Hackberry when he crashed into the other vehicles.

Police are still trying to determine where the vehicle was coming from but when officers saw the truck’s green doors they initially believed it might have been involved in another case. The officers activated their lights and stopped the pursuit. However, the truck kept speeding away until it crashed.

The driver who caused the wreck was sent to University Hospital in critical condition.

The driver and passenger in the SUV were sent to San Antonio Military Medical Center and University Hospital, both in critical condition.

The fourth person, the driver of the car, was taken to SAMMC and appeared to be OK.
