Man arrested after allegedly beating mother with tire iron

Andrew Hernandez Garza, 63, arrested Sunday


SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio man is charged with aggravated robbery after police said he beat up his mother with a tire iron and robbed her.

Andrew Hernandez Garza, 63, was arrested Sunday after police were called to his mother's West Side house on South San Eduardo Avenue.

Officers found the woman bleeding from her head. She told officers Garza hit her several times.

Garza's stepfather was outside at the time of the attack and ran back inside when her heard screaming, police said.

Police said Garza demanded money and fled his stepfather's Ford Taurus.

Police caught up with him and he was arrested.
