MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – A snowstorm kept many people from attending a college basketball game between the University of Kansas and West Virginia on Jan. 12, and one person that missed it was the person chosen to sing the national anthem during the pregame introductions.
So university police officer Carlton Smith, a former Mountaineer and "American Idol" contestant, stepped in to sing the National Anthem prior to the game.
