SAN ANTONIO – A Bexar County detention accused of sexually assaulting a female inmate at the county jail has resigned.
The Sheriff's Office was in the processing of firing Deputy Erick Montez, 35, when he submitted his resignation on Thursday.
Montez was arrested last week after an inmate claimed she had been sexually assaulted by Montez in a jail transport vehicle at the end of December.
Investigators said they found surveillance video to support the inmate's claims.
Montez has been in jail since his arrest on bonds totaling $85,000.
The Sheriff's Office said no other victims have come forward.
An investigation continues into how Montez was able to transport the alleged victim alone in the middle of the night.
