SAPD arrests accused child sex abuser after tip from South Korea

Chong Tae Yoon, 59, charged with continuous sex abuse of child

SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio man has been arrested and charged with sexually abusing a child after South Korean officials notified U.S. authorities.

Chong Tae Yoon, 59, was arrested Friday for crimes allegedly committed in 2013 on the city's Northwest Side.

The victim, who was 11 years old at the time of the abuse, told Korean authorities about the abuse in 2014.

Korean officials contacted U.S. Homeland Security, which handed the case to SAPD's Special Victims Unit.

Yoon was indicted by a Bexar County grand jury last week and charged with continuous sex abuse of child.
