Dispose of unwanted meds at city's MedDropSA event

Event set for Saturday at Brooks City Base

SAN ANTONIO – If you have any expired medications or hazardous household waste that you need to get rid of, Saturday is the day to do it.

SAWS and the city of San Antonio will hold the first MedDropSA of the year from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Brooks City Base, 2350 Gillingham Road.

MedDropSA is a safe way to dispose of unused or out of date pharmaceuticals at no cost. The event has been going on for six years, and more than 12 tons of medicine has been collected.

For drop-off, people are asked to put the pills into a plastic bag sealable with a zipper. Liquids and aerosols can stay in their original containers.

Syringes with needles and other sharp items will not be accepted.

No proof of residency is needed to drop off medications. However, those wishing to dispose of hazardous household waste must bring a recent CPS Energy bill showing proof of solid waste rate payment.
