Photos show 'triggerman' in gaming room slaying
Jimmy Nunez fatally shot Wednesday in south Bexar County
SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday released surveillance photos of a man who they said was the triggerman in a fatal shooting inside an illegal eight-liner gaming room.
Detectives hope someone recognizes the man, James Keith, a spokesman for the sheriff’s office, said.
"We're able to see his face very clearly. We're able to see the crime that happened. Now we have to track down who this person is,” Keith said.
Keith said the man in the photos is the triggerman in the “horrific” killing of Jimmy Nunez, 36, late on the night of Jan. 27 inside a converted mobile home in the 2700 block of Oak Island Drive in south Bexar County.
It’s still unclear whether Nunez was an employee of the facility or someone who was visiting. Keith said Nunez was armed with a gun, although he never had a chance to fire his weapon. Nunez was gunned down immediately after the triggerman walked through the door, Keith said.
"We don't know if there is some sort of history between the suspect and the victim, or whether the suspect knew that this is a place that had a lot of money,” Keith said.
Keith also revealed that there was more than one person involved in the slaying. Keith said the man in the picture arrived with a group, some of whom were welcomed at the illegal establishment. He said the triggerman forced his way inside.
“The biggest thing is his face is the most clear,” Keith said. “He's the one who pulled the trigger. He's the one who we're specifically looking for right now.”
In addition to the photos of the man, the sheriff’s office also released images of a white pickup that was parked outside. Investigators believe that the truck is also tied to the crime.
Detectives ask anyone who might have information on the case to call the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office tip line at 210-335-TIPS (8477) or Crime Stoppers at 210-224-STOP (7867).
