SAN ANTONIO – Two men were arrested Tuesday after running a teenage couple off the road and hitting the boyfriend in the head with a bat.

John David Medrano and Amador Villa Jr. are accused of assaulting the victims, an 18-year-old woman and 19-year-old man, who are dating.

The woman told police one of the attackers, Medrano, is her ex-boyfriend and Villa is his friend.

Police said the couple was returning home when they noticed the two men waiting for them in an SUV.

The couple drove away but was followed by the SUV, which rammed the couple's car twice.

Police said once the car was off the road, Villa got out of the SUV and broke the couple's car window with a brick. The woman said Medrano then hit the man inside the car in the head with an aluminum bat, telling the victim, "I'm going to put you out of your misery."

The victim was taken to the hospital.

Medrano and Villa are charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
