SAPD: Robber fires gunshot inside bar north of downtown

Customers in Cobalt Club forced to lie on floor

SAN ANTONIO – A man who wanted money fired a gunshot inside the Cobalt Club, north of downtown San Antonio, striking the end of the bar.

San Antonio police said they believe the robber entered the business by climbing through a back window around 1:30 a.m. Friday. They said he pointed a gun at the bartender and demanded cash.

Police said the man ordered everyone inside the bar to lie on the floor. At some point, they said, he fired a gunshot in the direction of the bartender, but the bullet struck the end of the bar instead.

The robber, who had a stocking covering his face, was last seen wearing a San Antonio Spurs jacket along with a baseball cap that has the letter "M" on it.

Police said the robber got away by climbing out of the same window that he used to enter the bar.
