Man shot, killed in South Bexar County

Shooting occurred in the 15500 block of Belen Street

SAN ANTONIO – A man was shot and killed in an early morning shooting, the Bexar County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.

The shooting was reported just after 4 a.m. in the 15500 block of Belen Street, near Salvador Avenue in South Bexar County.

James Keith, spokesman for the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, said neighbors woke to gunshots and went outside to see what happened.

Keith said according to witnesses, a silver four-door car drove away from the scene after the shots were fired.  The car then returned and more shots were fired. When deputies arrived, they found the body of a 53-year-old man inside a mobile home.

Keith said the victim appeared to have suffered multiple gunshot wounds before his death.

At this time there is no description of the shooter and a motive is not currently known.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the victim’s name once family notification has been made.

Anyone with information about the shooter or the incident is asked to call the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at (210) 335-TIPS.
