Miami toddler found safe in Laredo after abduction

Logan Hernandez allegedly abducted by mother, Leydibet Hernandez, 29

MIAMI – An Amber Alert has been canceled for 20-month-old Logan Hernandez, who was allegedly abducted by his mother, Leydibet Hernandez, 29.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement canceled the Amber Alert Sunday evening, after Hernandez and her baby were found in Laredo, Texas, more than 1,500 miles from where the baby was allegedly abducted.

Hernandez's custody had been previously revoked, according to police.

Hernandez's silver 2014 Mazda CX7 was found by police Sunday afternoon about a half-mile from the kidnapping site at the intersection of Southwest 27th Street and Southwest 32nd Avenue.

Surveillance video showed the car pull up to the home and a figure is seen leaving the home with something wrapped in a blanket.

Rebeca Rodriguez, the custodial caregiver for the toddler, said Hernandez doesn't have custody of Logan.

She said Hernandez had taken the child sometime during the night.

Hernandez was arrested in Texas and will be extradited back to Florida.

The baby is expected to return to Florida too.
