SAN ANTONIO – Juan Rodriguez Sanchez, 43, has been arrested on a theft charge for promising to make repairs to a man's home, but taking off with his money without doing any work, according to an arrest affidavit.
The affidavit said the 68-year-old man told San Antonio police that he paid Sanchez more than $800 as a down payment last October. He said the total price for the job was to be more than $1,800.
After paying Sanchez the deposit, the man said he had a series of phone conversations in which Sanchez kept promising to start the work the next day, the affidavit said.
Finally, in November, the victim said he asked Sanchez to return his money. He told police that he also sent him a certified letter, but didn't get his money back, the affidavit said.
Police obtained a warrant for Sanchez's arrest Wednesday and took him into custody. Sanchez was arrested on a charge of theft involving the elderly.
