NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas – The New Braunfels Police Department has arrested a San Marcos man on charges of sexual assault of a child.
Chase Daniel Laird, 24, is accused of taking advantage of a 14-year-old girl.

Police said the victim alerted them on Feb.18 that she had engaged in sexual intercourse with Laird, who she had met online.
On March 22, a warrant was issued for Laird’s arrest and he was taken into custody without incident at his home in the 1600 block of I-35 North in San Marcos.
He was then transported to the Comal County Jail.
Laird's bond has been at $100,000.
The charge of sexual assault of a child younger than 17 years old is considered a second-degree felony.
If convicted, Laird faces 2 to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
