Skeletal remains may have been in Guadalupe County field up to 2 years
Body found March 2 by farmer
GUADALUPE COUNTY, Texas – The Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help in identifying a woman's remains that were found by a farmer in Marion this month.
Sgt. Zachary McBride said the skeletal remains were found March 2 in a field near South Santa Clara and Gerdes Road.
"As he was fertilizing his field, one of his employees looked down and saw a human skull. When he got off to investigate, he found other bones close by," McBride said.
Investigators believe the remains have been there anywhere from a month to as long as two years.
"A sample of those bones will be analyzed for DNA, of course. Dental records are important identification tools, and there's several data bases that we can use," McBride said.
Preliminary reports indicate the woman was 25-40 years old and was between 4 feet, 11 inches to 5 feet, 6 inches tall.
"We know that this is somebody's family member, somebody's baby girl, somebody's sister, somebody's daughter. People out there are going to be able to point us in the right direction to figure out who this lady is and find out how she died," McBride said.
Anyone with information on a missing person who fits the description or any additional details is asked to call Guadalupe County Crime Stoppers at 877-403-TIPS (8477). Tips can also be submitted online.
