CarFest to help vehicle owners in need of repairs

Free repairs to be done at Freeman Coliseum

SAN ANTONIO – A group of automotive professionals in the San Antonio area are coming together to help car owners in need of repairs.

CarFest is scheduled for April 15 and 16 at the Freeman Coliseum.

Requirements for car owners include:

  • Owners must be employed
  • Vehicles must be insured
  • Owners must have a driver's license

The free repairs will be done with solely volunteer work and donated parts.

Event organizers said its reason is simple.

"Repairs are so expensive, and it's really a challenge for people in need to get their vehicles fixed and get themselves to work," said Mark Metzger, with the CarFest Development Team. "I think it's absolutely going to catch on. This is its inaugural event, and we hope that this is something that's going to move on to other markets in Texas, then eventually throughout the United States."

Organizers have already selected the 25 recipients for this CarFest, but there will be 10 free cars up for grabs at the event.
