Man shot, robbed in NE Bexar County drug deal

Victim taken to SAMMC in critical condition

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – A man is in the hospital after he was robbed and shot overnight Tuesday in Northeast Bexar County, authorities said.

The shooting was reported around 2:40 a.m. in the 3000 block of Candleside Drive, found near Binz-Engleman Road and North Foster Road.

Investigators are looking for two men accused of robbing the man of his car, wallet and clothes, then shot him.

According to the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, the victim met two men at a Murphy's gas station less than a mile from the shooting. The victim told investigators the meeting was a drug deal.

The men led the victim to the 3000 block of Candleside Drive, where they robbed and shot him. The men then fled in the victim's car.

"These are two people who are very dangerous. They've obviously shown no regard for life," BCSO spokesman James Keith said. "We need to make sure we get them off the streets."

Deputies spoke with several witnesses. Two households said they answered the door to the victim bleeding and asking for help.

He was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center in critical condition, but he is expected to survive.

A trail of blood ran next to a playground across the street from the homes the victim went to for help.

"It's unfortunate that these neighbors have to become victims themselves whenever people decide to commit crimes," Keith said. "This is an area that has seen problems with crime and with drug deals."

Investigators are working to get a description of the shooters.
