Bexar County sheriff's deputies on Thursday night rescued eight children from a home in the northeast part of the county. Two toddlers were found around 11:45 p.m. in the backyard of a home in the 8100 block of Chipping. One of them was chained to the ground and another was tied to a door with a dog leash. || The city of San Antonio told a mobile home park owner he needs to pay his water bill or they will issue an order to vacate as early as Monday. Plaza Mobile Home Park residents' water service has been cut off twice in the last two months and for the third time since 2012. || The San Antonio area is expected to grow by more than a million people in the next 25 years. The city plans to address the challenges this growth presents with several proposed strategies that will improve San Antonio for everyone.

THURSDAY

Lawmakers in North Carolina sparked a national debate when they passed legislation requiring people to use the restroom that corresponds with the gender of their birth. Could Texas follow suit? Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, a Republican, said he would support passing laws similar to what North Carolina has done. || A new interactive piece is now on display at Travis Park and was created by San Antonio artists Nik Soupe and Shek Vega. || Texas A&M University-San Antonio is getting ready to welcome their first freshman class this fall. But as of right now, those new students won't have anywhere on campus to live – but that's about to change.

WEDNESDAY

A Bexar County grand jury on Tuesday indicted two former San Antonio Police Department officers over a fake undercover operation that involved getting women to have sex with them. A former military couple who became foster parents said they are suing Child Protective Services in order to adopt a little girl in their care since she was five days old. A local defense attorney was indicted Wednesday on 35 charges of sexual assault and compelling prostitution. Watch this ICYMI recap for the rest of the day's news.

TUESDAY

A grand jury indicted ex-Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel on an assault charge after his ex-girlfriend accused him of domestic violence. Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton scored huge victories Tuesday that bring them closer to a monumental duel for the White House in the fall. The KSAT-12 Defenders obtained documents that shed light on the death of off-duty Bexar County sheriff's Deputy Richard Hammock, who was killed by an alleged drunken driver. MONDAY

Trash cans over turned, balloons withering away, and streamers barely hanging on to columns and garage doors. It may sound like the remnants of a party but living next to the eyesore is anything but a good time for one North Side neighborhood. || Now in their second year, virtual ride-alongs with San Antonio police officers posted on the department’s Facebook page had a new twist during this year’s 11 days of Fiesta. SAPD spokesman Doug Greene was on Facebook Live during four of Fiesta’s busiest nights from events, including Night in Old San Antonio and on the streets with officers arresting suspected drunk drivers. || A quick-moving storm Monday slammed the Alamo City with large hail. Though there have been few reports of damage, this was the second storm this month to produce large hail.

Get the brooms out

The Spurs quickly dismissed their first round opponents, the Memphis Grizzlies. The Silver and Black swept the series on Sunday with a Game 4 win, 116-95. The Spurs either face the Dallas Mavericks or the Oklahoma City Thunder in Round 2. Once again, the guys will have home-court advantage. Tickets for the semifinals go on sale Tuesday at 10 a.m.

No soup? We have a problem.

At least that is what one Fort Worth-area business owner heard after his restaurant ran out of complimentary soup. A Texas lawyer upset that he wasn't provided a cup of soup during a recent meal has notified a restaurant owner that he'll sue if not reimbursed the $2.25 for the soup. Dwain Downing also is seeking $250 in attorney fees for the time spent drafting a letter sent to Benji Arslanovski, who operates Our Place Restaurant in the Fort Worth suburb of Mansfield.

Probably not what they intended

School leader at Austin Independent School District probably didn’t see this coming. After voting to change the name of Robert E. Lee Elementary School and seeking new name suggestions, the most popular name submitted was Donald J. Trump Elementary. The school board could vote on a new name in late May.

No fly zone

If you didn’t have a flight in or out of San Antonio International Airport on Saturday, count your blessings. A plane caught fire on the only commercial runway open, closing it for several hours. That meant no commercial planes in or out. Luckily, operations were back to normal by mid-afternoon.
