2 men arrested after armed robbery on West Side

Incident was reported around 4:30 a.m. in the 100 block of Dokes Drive

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police have arrested two men early Thursday morning following an armed robbery attempt at a home on the city's West Side.

The call was reported around 4:30 a.m. in the 100 block of Dokes Drive, found not far from NW 25th Street.

Police said two men, one armed with a machete and the other with a gun, robbed an individual at the home of both his drugs and money.

"They did not force their way into the home. It appears the individual that lived at the home knew them. That's why we're suspecting it's a possible drug transaction (that took) place in the bedroom (and) ended up continuing into a robbery," Sgt. Curtis Collidge said.

The victim of the robbery however fled the scene police said. It was the other people inside the home that were cooperating with police and telling them what happened.

SAPD managed to track down and catch one of the suspects near an H-E-B grocery store roughly a block away on NW 24th Street and Culebra Road.

The SAPD canine unit helped track down the second suspect also not far from where the robbery took place.

Police said while the suspects were running they both ditched their weapons but they have since recovered them.

At this time it is not known what kind of drugs were involved, and no one was hurt in the incident.

The investigation into the robbery is ongoing.
