Multi-county high-speed chase ends in crash

Speeds hit 100 mph

SAN ANTONIO – A high-speed chase came to an end in Guadalupe County Wednesday night.

Inside the car was a man driving and a female passenger.

The chase began in near Interstate 35 and Walzem Road in northeast Bexar County and ended in the 1700 block of Lower Seguin Road in Guadalupe County.

That is between the towns of Marion and Cibolo.

During the coarse of the chase, the driver threw something out. Deputies believe it was drugs.

A DPS helicopter was dispatched to help deputies on the ground. Bexar County spokesman, James Keith, credited the helicopter with allowing deputies to "back-off" the suspects.

The driver crashed into a utility pole around 8:30 p.m. Neither person in the car was injured.

Citing DPS, KSAT's Sky-12 pilot reports the driver hit the pole traveling approximately 100 mph.

The driver has been arrested and charged with evading arrest, Keith said he is likely facing additional charges. The woman in the car has been questioned by deputies, but is likely not going to face any charges.
