18-year-old dies in early morning crash in New Braunfels

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas – An 18-year-old from San Marcos died early Monday after he was thrown from his Jeep in a one-vehicle crash in New Braunfels, police said.

New Braunfels police said the crash happened around 3:30 a.m. in the 4300 block of northbound Interstate 35.

Police said a white 1994 Jeep Cherokee left the main lanes of I-35, hit a grass embankment and rolled end over end.

The driver, Brandon Pablo Chase Naymik, was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the SUV. He was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 4:46 a.m.

Police said the Jeep was driving fast in heavy rain before it crashed, according to witness statements.

The crash is being investigated by the New Braunfels Police Department Traffic Unit.

No other injuries were reported in the crash.
