The temporary closure of the Comal River in New Braunfels continues as water levels recede, debris cleanup begins and repairs are made to river-related infrastructure, police said. || Police are sending a safety alert to families after an attempted kidnapping in Schertz Thursday. Officers arrested 24-year-old Zachary Schultz and accused him of trying to abduct a 14-year-old girl from the local H-E-B. || The San Antonio metro region added 4,200 jobs in April and has expanded by more than 25,000 jobs over the past year. The unemployment rate dropped to 3.4 percent in April from 3.7 percent in March.

TUESDAY

Legendary Tejano star and San Antonio native Emilio Navaira died Monday night at the age of 53. The New Braunfels Police Department told KSAT 12 emergency response crews were sent to a home in the 6300 block of Myrtle Run around 8:20 p.m. Monday. || Schertz police said an 18-year-old is the mother of a baby who was reported abandoned on a porch Monday afternoon. Police spokesman Lt. John Correu said the teenager told her parents, who were unaware she was pregnant, that she found a baby on the porch. Her parents then called police to report the abandoned child. || Videos showing students purportedly from San Antonio using cat intestines to jump rope were shot at Winston Churchill High School, a Northeast Independent School District spokeswoman confirmed Tuesday afternoon.

MONDAY

The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified the man who was driving an OGA Charters bus that crashed Saturday north of Laredo, killing eight people and injuring 44 others. The driver, Porfirio Aguirre Vasquez, 29, of Pharr, Texas, was released from the hospital on Monday. || A small plane that crashed Monday morning in Mississippi, killing four people, took off from Kerrville Sunday. The pilot and three passengers in the single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza died after the plane crashed in a field about a half-mile north of Tupelo Regional Airport. || San Antonio police have arrested three people on suspicion of stealing expensive astronomy equipment from a military veteran's storage unit. Barbara Matthews, 49, and Roger Chipman, 44, were arrested Monday morning in the 5000 block of Elkhunter Trail. They have been charged with engaging in organized criminal activity, a third-degree felony.

8 killed, 40+ injured

KSAT is sending a crew back to the scene where a casino-bound bus crashed on rural Highway 83, north of Laredo, killing eight people and injuring more than 40. The National Transportation Safety Board has launched an investigation into the accident and the KSAT Defenders found the bus company, OGA, has a checkered past. We also learned the names of the people killed. They ranged in age from 52-81.

Rain, rain go … actually, it’s here to stay

It is shaping up to be a rather wet work week. Parts of San Antonio picked up over an inch of rain since Saturday, while places out in the Texas Hill Country notched 4 inches in the rain bucket. More wet weather is forecast all this week, and even the chance of severe weather on Tuesday. Of course, you can expect your Weather Authority to keep you up to date on the very latest.

Sick to my stomach, literally

Members of the Red Hot Chili Peppers took the stage for a sold-out show Saturday night, but the band didn't play a single note. Singer Anthony Kiedis, 53, was on his way to the hospital. In a statement Sunday, the band announced that "complications from the intestinal flu" led to Kiedis' hospitalization.

Give me a home where the buffalo roam

Lots of buffalo news this weekend. First, are you in the market for a bison? You might be in luck. A North Texas woman is selling her house-broken buffalo, Bullet. (There is a sentence I never thought I’d have to type.) The family is hoping to find its hefty hooved friend a place with more room to live out her days. Meanwhile, a cute and cuddle baby buffalo is not for sale. A foreign family visiting Yellowstone National Park got a ticket after putting a baby buffalo in the backseat of their car and taking it to a park ranger. The reason? It looked cold. #YouCantMakeThisStuffUp
