Family escapes duplex fire on Northeast Side

Fire was reported around 11:30 p.m. Monday

SAN ANTONIO – A family's home is severely damaged after a blaze destroyed part of their duplex overnight, fire officials said Tuesday.

The fire was reported around 11:30 p.m. Monday in the 7200 block of Montgomery Drive, found near the Harmony School of Innovation on the city's Northeast Side.

Investigators said the fire started in a bedroom. The people inside were able to make it out safely.

Officials added the fire caused roughly $60,000 worth of damage.

There is no word on what caused the fire.

The Bexar County Fire Marshall's Office is investigating.
