San Antonio deaf community rally around DWTS semi-finalist

Nyle Dimarco first deaf contest on hit dancing show

SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio interpreters hosted a watch party Monday night for the first ever deaf contestant on “Dancing with the Stars.”

The crowd at Fox and the Hound on Vance Jackson Road cheered on Nyle Dimarco as he competed for a spot in the finale.

"He's been a great representative for the deaf community because without him, perhaps the deaf world wouldn't get that recognition,” Daniel Tokarev said. “You know, deaf really can do anything and Nyle has proven that.”

Spoiler alert, Dimarco did make it to the finals.

The group will be holding another watch party next week as well. You can watch the “Dancing with the Stars” finale on KSAT-12 Monday at 7 p.m.
