Police: Girl, 7, shot in head after disturbance on West Side

Girl's mother also shot in 5400 block of San Fernando Street

SAN ANTONIO – A 7-year-old girl and her mother were reportedly shot late Wednesday night following a disturbance on the city's West Side.

San Antonio police said the shooting occurred at around 10:15 p.m. in the 5500 block of San Fernando Street. 

Police said the girl and her mother were walking down San Fernando when a vehicle involved in some type of disturbance pulled up to them and opened fire.

Police said the girl was shot in the head and transported to University Hospital in critical condition. She presently is on life-support, SAPD said.

The girl’s mother was shot in the arm and is in stable condition.

Police said they are looking for a White Chevy Impala or Lumina with tinted windows and a spare tire on the front passenger side, along with four men.

A motive for the shooting is not presently known.
