Neighbor alerts firefighters of fire on Northwest Side

No one was inside at time of fire; damages estimated around $40,000

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio firefighters responded to an early-morning house fire Monday morning thanks to a phone call from a helping neighbor.

The fire was reported just before 8 a.m. in the 200 block of Cabot Street, not far from Interstate 10 and Vance Jackson Road on the city's Northwest Side.

Firefighters said six people live in the home but none were inside the house at the time of the fire. A neighbor alerted the homeowner after calling 911.

Eight SAFD units responded to the fire and put out the fire in roughly 20 minutes. The fire was concentrated in the back of the house firefighters said, and that included the bedrooms, the living area, and the laundry room.

Damages to the home estimated around $40,000.

The cause of the fire is not yet known, and arson has been called to investigate.
