Man, 22, shot in leg on East Side

Victim was taken to SAMMC for his injuries

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police are investigating a shooting Tuesday morning that sent one man to the hospital.

The shooting was reported around 2:20 a.m. in the 800 block of North New Braunfels Avenue at the intersection of Blaine Street, found on the city's East Side.

Police said the 22-year-old man was was a female friend when a small red car pulled up alongside them with roughly two people inside. That's when, police said, someone fired shots at him, hitting him in the leg.

Despite being shot, police said, the man ran to Hayes Food Mart to get help. Police said his female friend jumped into his car which was parked nearby and drove it home.

The victim told police he thought the woman might have been shot as well, but police say they have not been able to find her.

So far there is no description of the shooter.

The injured man was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center with non-life-threatening wounds.

The investigation is ongoing.
