Phony fight call leads deputies to suspected drug house, BCSO says

Alajouwan Duhart, 23, faces drug possession charge

SAN ANTONIO – A 23-year-old man was arrested early Tuesday morning at a suspected drug stash house in south Bexar County.

Bexar County Sheriff's Office spokesman James Keith said deputies knocked on the door of a ground-floor apartment unit around 1:30 a.m. at the Champion Homes at Marshall Meadows at 1803 Marshall Cross.

Deputies were answering a reported call about a fight involving a man beating another man with a baseball bat, Keith said.

Keith said deputies found no sign of a fight, but did find signs of a different type of trouble.

"He then opens the door and immediately lays on the floor as though to surrender," Keith said. "He told deputies that he thought the apartment was being busted."

Deputies kept looking for a fight victim and took a quick look around the apartment when they noticed a supply of illegal drugs out in the open, Keith said.

Armed with a search warrant, deputies found 321 grams of cocaine and crack, more than $30,000 in cash, an AK47 rifle and 9 mm handgun, Keith said.

Alajouwan Duhart was taken into custody on a drug possession charge. He had a prior drug-related arrest in January, Keith said.
