SAN ANTONIO – A fire at the Castle Rock Apartment Homes Thursday night forced residents to evacuate their homes.
San Antonio firefighters were called to the scene in the 11700 block of Parliament Street just before 10 p.m.
That is just blocks away from Winston Churchill High School in the city’s North Side.
More than 25 fire units responded to the complex. Fire crews worked to quickly put out the flames.
Firefighters believe a kitchen fire on a stove in one of the apartments caught fire and spread to the walls and attic space.
A total of 16 units were evacuated. A San Antonio Fire Department spokesperson said eight apartments sustained smoke damage, four have water damage and one has fire damage.
SAFD said the apartment management is working to place residents in unoccupied apartments.
No injuries were reported. It is unknown how much damage the fire caused.
