Deputies search for driver who fled from them, put woman out of car

Passenger in fleeing car suffering scrapes and bruises

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – Bexar County deputies continue to search for a driver who reportedly refused to stop, then ran away from them on the South Side. They did, however, find a passenger from the car who they said suffered injuries when she either got out or was put out of the vehicle.

The incident began with an attempted traffic stop around 1 a.m. Friday along SW Military Drive. Deputies said they had attempted to stop a vehicle after running the license plate. The driver kept going, though.

A short time later, deputies found the car at a gas station in the 2100 block of SW Military. They said the 22-year-old driver had driven across several curbs before coming to a stop, jumping out of the vehicle and running away.

Even with the assistance of a helicopter, deputies were not able to locate the man. They said they did find his 21-year-old girlfriend, who had to be treated for scrapes and bruises.

Deputies believe she was injured when she either got out of the car or was put out by the suspect.
