Pedestrian killed on Southeast Side

Daniel Gonzales Jr. was hit by pickup while walking on sidewalk

SAN ANTONIO – A pedestrian was killed on the city's Southeast Side early Wednesday.

Police said Daniel Gonzales Jr. was walking on the sidewalk in the 3400 block of Goliad Road around 5:30 a.m., when a Ford Ranger traveling in the same direction as the pedestrian failed to negotiate a curve. The pickup collided with the concrete curb and hit Gonzales and a utility pole and then rolled on its side.

Gonzales was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash is under investigation.
