SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio city officials Friday addressed the recent violence involving police officers across the country.
Mayor Ivy Taylor offered her condolences to the Dallas Police Department and citizens in the North Texas area.
Taylor discussed the extra lengths the San Antonio Police Department has taken and will continue to take to ensure senseless violence doesn’t continue.
She also called for San Antonians to stand together to build a strong, unified community in the wake of the Dallas police officer shootings.
"An engaged community is a safe community. This is a call to action to all San Antonians," Taylor said.
Deputy Chief Anthony Trevino echoed Taylor's sentiments.
"We need to make sure we work together as a community," Trevino said. "Every life matters and there should be no acceptable level of violence in our community."
Trevino said the police department will continue to go to extra lengths to train officers to handle stressful situations, and provide officers with real-time information to ensure everyone is informed and as safe as possible.
