The doctor treating the governor Monday determined there was a minor infection and recommended Abbott be admitted to the hospital.
Abbott is expected to spend the night at the hospital.
He will also not be able to attend Tuesday’s memorial in Dallas for the officers killed last week.
A spokesperson said additional decisions regarding the governor’s schedule remain day-to-day.
