Suspect arrested in four robberies on city's West Side

Police found suspect's car at West Side hotel

SAN ANTONIO – A man police believe committed four robberies on the city’s West Side over the last week is now in custody.

Police arrested 39-year-old Mario Martinez. He’s charged with four counts of aggravated robbery.

Authorities said they were able to get a description of the suspect’s car and tracked him down at a hotel on the West Side.

“When the suspect left, they initiated a traffic stop, then they searched the man’s vehicle and found a sawed-off shotgun,” said Sgt. Jesse Salame, San Antonio Police Department spokesman.

Salame said oftentimes robberies tend to escalate and he’s glad officers were able to arrest the suspect.
