2 men shot behind home near North Side, 1 man in critical condition

Police say other victim in stable condition

SAN ANTONIO – One man was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries Thursday night after two men were shot near the city’s North Side, police said.

It happened at a home near the intersection of West Wildwood and Grant Avenue, just north of downtown, around 8:45 p.m.

Detectives are working to piece the evidence together. Police said the shooter turned the corner onto Grant Avenue and opened fire in front of the house and then again behind the house.

The two men were shot after the second round of gunfire. Police said one man was shot in the back and is in stable condition. The other man was shot in the chest and is in critical condition.

The man in critical condition was taken by ambulance to the hospital. Although police haven’t confirmed it, neighbors said they think the shooting was gang-related.

“At this point we’re not ruling anything out,” said Officer Doug Greene, San Antonio Police Department spokesman.

All that’s known about the suspects is that there were several of them and they were in a dark Chevy Malibu.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the SAPD homicide unit.
