Source says hot air balloon pilot in deadly crash didn't see power lines

LOCKHART, Texas – New information was revealed from an investigation into last weekend’s hot air balloon crash in Lockhart, Texas. A source with knowledge of the investigation said the pilot of the balloon didn’t see the power lines ahead of him.

The source said investigators believe the pilot was trying to descend through a break in the clouds.

The balloon hit the power lines, caught fire and crashed, killing all 16 people on board. It was the deadliest hot air balloon crash in U.S. history.

The definite cause of the crash hasn’t been determined.

Six of the victims were from the San Antonio area.
