DPS arrests Nixon city manager for aggravated sexual assault of child

Charges against Manuel Zepeda stem from incidents beginning in 2009

NIXON, Texas – The city manager of Nixon, Texas has been arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a child while he worked as a substitute teacher in Gonzales County.

Manuel Zepeda, 66, of Nixon, Texas, is charged with one count of aggravated sexual assault of a child and one count of having an improper relationship with student while he worked as a substitute teacher.

The charges stem from incidents beginning in 2009 involving three juvenile girls.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said the incidents took place when Zepeda worked in the the Nixon-Smiley school district.

Zepeda was taken into custody by DPS Thursday at Nixon City Hall and booked into the Gonzales County Jail. He’s been the Nixon city manager since 2014.

The Gonzales County Attorney’s Office investigation is continuing. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call 210-531-4341.
