Trinity Market hopes to make community healthier

New partnership with Nix Health Care System will provide wellness screenings

SAN ANTONIO – The Trinity Market hopes a new partnership will make the community healthier.

The market serves up fresh produce on the Trinity University campus every Saturday. It’s now teaming up with the Nix Health Care System to provide wellness screenings.

The market made the announcement Wednesday with the cutting of a watermelon in the Nix Hospital lobby.

Starting Saturday, physicians and nurses will be on-hand at the weekly farmers market.

"Hospitals typically take care of people that are sick," said Joseph Rafferty, Nix Health Care System CEO. "We're building a primary care network. We're building systems that are promoting wellness. That's one way to allow us to do that with a university that has a great academic foundation."

The Trinity Market runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday at the 600 block of North Campus, between Hildebrand and the Coates Library on campus.
