1 hit in downtown shooting

Police say drugs were involved in shooting

SAN ANTONIO – A man was taken to the hospital in critical condition following a downtown shooting early Saturday morning. 

According to San Antonio police, two men met up with someone near Navidad Street and W. Commerce around 1:30 a.m. 

When the pair got out of their vehicle, someone shot one man.  The other man was assaulted with the gun, said police. 

The men got back in their car and started driving. They eventually ran into a police officer near North Frio and West Houston Streets and asked for help.

The man who was shot had a wound in his chest, said police. 

He was taken to University Hospital in critical condition.
