Man arrested, charged in multiple robberies over weekend

Carlos Rivas, 29, charged with aggravated robbery

SAN ANTONIO – Carlos Rivas, 29, was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated robbery. Rivas is accused of being involved in two separate robberies over the weekend.

The first one happened Saturday in the 900 block of Southeast Military Drive.

"In the first case, he approached the victim, tried to snatch the gold chain off her neck. When the victim tried to retrieve her property, he punched the victim in the face," said Sgt. Jesse Salame, with the San Antonio Police Department.

On Sunday, police said Rivas struck again, but this time he wasn't alone. Rivas and  another man targeted two people near North Star Mall in the 7400 block of San Pedro.

"(They) contacted two victims there. They held a knife, pulled the knife around the victim’s throat and demanded her purse and then punched and hit the other victim," Salame said.

Police said all three victims are expected to be OK.

San Antonio police are still searching for the second man involved in Sunday's robbery.

Rivas's girlfriend was also arrested, for allegedly using stolen credit cards. She has not been charged at this time.
