Police identify man who enganged them in standoff on Northeast Side

Stephen Larson, 32, charged with evading arrest


SAN ANTONIO – A man charged with evading arrest and engaging San Antonio police in a nearly six-hour standoff has been identified.

Stephen Larson, 32, was taken into custody late Friday night.

Police said the incident started when they received a call about a suspicious person in a Northeast Side neighborhood.

San Antonio police Chief William McManus said Larson was threatening to kill his girlfriend. When an officer arrived, police said Larson ran off and the officer chased him into a backyard.

Larson was able to get into a home near Independence Avenue and Liberty Bell Street, leading to the standoff.

A SWAT team eventually apprehended Larson.
