State troopers arrest man following high-speed chase

Chase began in New Braunfels, ended on I-10 in Northwest SA

SAN ANTONIO – A high-speed chase that began in New Braunfels led state troopers on an hour and a half chase overnight, officials said Friday. 

The chase began around 10:30 p.m. Thursday and ended on the city's Northwest Side near Briaridge Drive and Pine brook Drive located off of Interstate 10.

Officials at the scene said state troopers picked up the chase in Seguin from the New Braunfels Police Department.

The suspect took I-10 West to FM 1518 thru Kirby before getting on and off northbound Interstate 35. That's when, officials said, the driver went westbound on Loop 410 to Austin Highway through Alamo Heights and Terrell Hills back to Loop 410 before exiting at Cherry Ridge near both Briaridge Drive and Pine brook Drive.

DPS troopers said the suspect was going 90 mph through construction lanes trying to avoid traffic.

The man, said to be in his late 30s early 40s, has been arrested with multiple charges pending, officials said.

At this time it is not known why the chase began.

The investigation is ongoing.
