Man found wounded by shotgun blast on Southwest Side

Victim found after officers answer burglary call

SAN ANTONIO – A call about a burglary in progress led San Antonio police to discover a gunshot victim in the middle of a Southwest Side neighborhood.

Officers found the man just before 4 a.m. Wednesday in the 9000 block of Bowline. They said he was bleeding heavily from a gunshot wound to the back of his leg.

The man was taken to University Hospital for treatment and, at last check, was in serious condition.

Police said it appeared he was shot by someone with a shotgun, although they did find a handgun on him.

At the scene a detective said he was not sure what led to the shooting.

A neighbor who heard the gunshots however said officers told her the man had been trying to break into a vehicle at the time when he was shot.

Police confirmed that there were signs of it being tampered with.

Officers said they tried to speak with the owner of the vehicle but did not have any luck.

The case is still under investigation.
