Robbery at Church's in Universal City leads to chase, arrest

Police searching for second suspect

UNIVERSAL CITY, Texas – A robbery at a Church’s Chicken in Universal City led to a short chase and an arrest.

Universal City police said two men robbed the restaurant on Pat Booker Road late Friday morning. When officers were getting to the scene, the suspects fled.

Police chased the suspects for a short while until the suspects crashed their car into a ditch by a salon.

“We suddenly just saw a car come in and hit right where this little ditch is and we heard the sirens,” said Mary Rivera, a witnesses who works near where the crash happened. “We ran to the back, stayed there, and we could hear the cops yelling.”

Rivera said she saw a purse with money on the ground after police arrested one of the suspects. The other one ran away and at last check, police are still searching for him.

Rosegarden Elementary School was on lockdown for a short time while police searched the area for the man.
