Silver Alert discontinued for missing senior diagnosed with cognitive impairment


AUSTINUPDATE: The Silver Alert for Carolyn Williamson was discontinued Thursday night at 9:00 p.m.

Austin police are searching for Carolyn Williamson, a 73-year-old woman diagnosed with a cognitive impairment, the department said in a news release.

Williamson is described as white, 5 feet tall and 130 pounds with gray hair and hazel eyes. She was last seen wearing blue jeans, tennis shoes and carrying a purse with a Native American design pattern. She walks with a limp and uses a cane.

Williamson was last seen at 1 p.m. Thursday in Austin, driving a maroon 2013 Ford Edge with Texas License Plate DDG-8657.

The release explained that authorities believe her disappearance poses a credible threat to her own health and safety.
