Man accused of trying to burn down ex-boss' business

Alex Ramirez, Jr, 33, charged with arson

SAN ANTONIO – Alex Ramirez, Jr., 33, is accused of using gasoline to start a fire at a Northeast Side business where he once worked.

He was arrested Wednesday on an arson charge.

Witnesses told San Antonio arson investigators that Ramirez walked up to the front of the business, in the 3400 block of Nacogdoches Road, and began pouring gas on it from a gas can, an arrest warrant affidavit said.

The affidavit said that he then took and open flame and ignited the gasoline. Workers were able to put out the fire before it caused major damage,the affidavit said.

Police said the incident was caught on surveillance cameras, and that Pena's former co-workers, which include his brother, were able to identify him.
