According to police Shorts and Terry told them that they had left the home for a only few minutes to go down the street. The pair returned to find both SAPD and the fire department outside the home, police said, and that's when they told SAPD a child was inside.

The infant, only a year and 6 months old, was found dead inside the house located in the 600 block of Gulf by firemen, police said.

Arson is investigating the cause of the fire.

Bond has been set for both Terry and Shorts at $20,000.
