SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County Commissioners Court has approved the commission of Cuban-American artist Jorge Rodriguez Gerada to create a new monumental public artwork for the San Pedro Creek project on the city’s West Side.

The cost of the sculpture is $735,000.

Rodriguez Gerada is known for his large-scale works in urban spaces. He is planning to move to San Antonio from Spain to oversee construction of the project.

The piece is expected to be completed by May 2018, just in time for the city’s tricentennial celebration.
