Affidavit: Man attempts to set wife's truck on fire

Jimmy Tovar, 36, charged with arson

The Bexar County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man they say attempted to set fire to his wife's truck.

Jimmy Tovar, 36, was arrested for two separate arson charges, both involving the same vehicle.

According to an arrest affidavit, deputies responded to a domestic violence call around 5 a.m. Tuesday in the 11200 block of Pearsall Road in Southwest Bexar County.

The affidavit said Tovar and his wife had been arguing, and she was unable to get her husband to leave after he threatened to burn their house down.

Tovar then attempted to start a fire in her truck by placing a flame from his cigarette lighter against the rear passenger seat before lighting a cigarette and leaving, the affidavit said.

The affidavit said when deputies arrived they saw smoke coming from the back seat of the 2006 Dodge Ram truck, and upon search of the vehicle found a lit cigarette between the backseat cushions.
