East SA man wanted for failing to register as sex offender

Branden Penix, 23, hasn't been seen since March

SAN ANTONIO – A warrant has been issued for a convicted sex offender who was required to report his address to authorities as a condition of his probation.

The U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force is asking for help to find Branden Raul Penix, 23.

"Back in March of this year, Penix was sentenced to seven years probation on a charge of sexual assault of a child. The victim was under the age of 17 years old," said Deputy Chris Bozeman.

Penix is required to register as a sex offender for life.

The state's sex offender registry site reports Penix reported his address to Kerrville police in May, but has not reported his whereabouts since.

"Penix allegedly violated the conditions of his probation because he failed to register as a sex offender and he's since gone into hiding," Bozeman said.

Penix is 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 121 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.

"His last known place of residence was on the east side of San Antonio," said Bozeman.

If you have any information on his whereabouts, call the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force at 210-657-8500.
