Police: 16-year-old in stolen vehicle runs red light, crashes with car

Incident occurred Thursday on W. Commerce and S. General McMullen Dr

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police said they arrested a 16-year-old driving a stolen pick-up truck following a vehicle crash late Thursday night.

The accident occurred just after 11 p.m. Thursday on West Commerce and South General McMullen Drive, found just west of downtown.

According to police, the teenager was driving a white pick-up truck and ran a red light on Commerce hitting a car traveling westbound.

The pick-up truck hit the other vehicle so hard, it ended up on the other side of the street, police said.

A passenger in the car hit, a 17-year-old teen, suffered back injuries and was taken by emergency crews to University Hospital in stable condition.

The teen driving the pick-up truck will be charged with possession of a stolen vehicle among other charges, police said.
